5.1 Procedures of teaching
This is the first time for me to teach chemistry in English. It was an exciting and rewarding experience. I taught five topics consist of Kinetic molecular theory, Boyle’s Law, Charles’s Law, Gay – Lussac’s Law and Combined gas law, around 20 hours of practice in class. I learn a lot from my cooperating teacher and my students (grade 10 Purity and prudence.). In my class had more students, but it is good opportunity to learn how to manage my class and solve problems in class with myself.
I would like to present my class which I taught Boyle’s Law (1 hour), grade 10 piety and prudence, chemistry, on 23 January 2019. Although this is third time for me, I always excited because content is a bit difficult for me and must explain students about mathematical terms in English language. I followed with my lesson plan (7 E step) when I thought my students.
5.1.1 Elicitation
I started warm up my lesson by greeting students in English and Thai language. Students in here very active and have high self – confident. I asked my students by used basic question such as “How are you today?” and “Are you ready to study?”, after my students pray finished. Then, I led students to discuss relationship between the kinetic molecular theory and gases law.

2.Engagement and Exploration
I showed the concept map in power point presentation and explained Gases Law. Then, I opened video which present science experiment and asked them some question such as “What is video presents about”. After this, I led students to explain contents of topic and gives example problems on the board for explaining how to solve Boyle’s Law problem.

3.Explanation
I divided my class into 4 groups and gave a problem to each group.

Then, I observed their performances and recommended some group to solve the problem. During this time student who doesn’t understand the lesson can ask them friends or me.

Then, I told my students to choose one of them group to present method of solution on the whiteboard after they finished their assignment on limit time. We checked answers together.

4.Elaboration, Enrichment and Extension
I used questions to summarize the topic. Then, I gave extension work to my students.
5.2 Time management and organizing activities
I had 45 minutes to teach students because the misunderstanding of teachers who taught students before me. I adjusted the time for new activities and cut off some activities such as games in the explanation step. I spent 10 minutes to warm-up step and imported into the activity for 20 minutes, the duration of the student presentation is 10 minutes and summarize the lessons and including assigning 5 minutes of homework.
5.3 Problem-solving
There are problems that I found in my class as follows:
- 1. I cannot explain any activities clearly such as part of mathematical term.
- 2. Sometimes, I want to use games in class, but I can’t. One of the reasons that I find it hard to communicate in English.
- 3. Sometimes, I don’t understand what my students are saying because them accent is hard for me to understand. But I know my accent is hard for my students to understand too.
- 4. The time to teaching and learning are not inadequate. I had around 45 minutes of instruction.
- 5. The more students are difficult to control the class.
I solve about problems as follows:
- 1.I use group process to teach my student in my classroom. I divide students into groups. Associates will work together to solve the problem. That method helps me to control my classroom easier, Students who don’t understand the lesson can ask them friends in the group and solve the problem together. In addition, my students learn how well the group achieved their goal and maintained an effective working relationship.
- 2.I write some word which difficult to understand on the board and use video to explain the lesson.
5.4 Classroom management
I told with my students about rules on my class such as speak polite language, don’t talk or make misbehavior while I am teaching and keep phones in a bag. I used group process to control my classrooms. I can cut off them point if someone in group makes misbehavior. Furthermore, I give some reward for a student who had high score in my class that a great way to motivate them.
